Produced by Spiro Productions at Meadow Brook Theatre, 2013
Designs by Brian Kessler (Set), Caitlin Cisek and Cat Boss (Costumes), Sara Finney (Lighting).
“The charm of this production is that the entire play is staged as if the audience is seeing Jean Valjean’s recollections as he writes out his “last confession” – the story of his life that he leaves with his daughter Cosette and Marius at the end of the play, just before he dies. It’s a simple device, but it works amazingly well while holding true to the script. And the spare, modular set pieces designed by Brian Kessler lend themselves to this device, underscoring a memory more concerned with people – what was said and what was felt – than with the actual backdrop.” -Patty Nolan, The Examiner
This production had a remount concert production in 2014 at Avondale Performing Arts Center in Michigan.
